Land of mountains, volcanoes and lakes, Guatemala's natural beauty will certainly capture your attention

But beyond the tourist attractions and intriguing Indian dress of the Mayans, heart-breaking poverty and spiritual confusion fill the land. Overcrowded barrios, lack of resources, and pagan religious traditions abound.

This summer, you’re invited to join a team of students who believe their lives are meant for more than just scrolling, summer jobs, and counting down the days until school starts again. You’re invited into a story God is writing — one that will take you far beyond what’s familiar and into the schools and communities of Guatemala City. Together, we’ll serve, laugh, worship, and step into moments that stretch your faith and change the way you see the world. This isn’t just a trip — it’s an adventure with eternal purpose, a chance to make real friends, do something that truly matters, and discover who you are when you say yes to God’s call. Somewhere between the team building, the ministry moments, and the lives you’ll touch, you may just find that this is the summer that changes everything.

How to GO
Complete the three steps below and then Real Impact Missions will contact you with an acceptance decision. Trip applications should be submitted as quickly as possible to secure your spot and help us get an idea of the team size for planning purposes. Once you are accepted, you will receive an acceptance packet that details the forms and fundraising deadlines and helps you prepare for your trip.

Team Leaders
Real Impact Missions is with you every step of the way! When you first arrive in Miami several of our staff will meet you and facilitate your evangelism and cultural training as well as team building exercises. In addition, two Project Directors and a Worship Leader will travel with your group to and from Guatemala and will lead you during your entire time in country.

Meet some of your leaders:
Neelka Smith
Neelka Smith has taken part in more than 40 short-term mission outreaches, in over 30 countries, leading 27 as a team leader or director.
With 28 years of church or missions leadership experience, she has guided more than 1,500 young people on overseas mission outreaches.
After eight years of full-time mission field work in Central Asia, in countries such as Nepal and India, she continues to live her passion for reaching the unreached and mobilizing young people for missions whenever possible through short term outreaches.
She currently lives in Colorado Springs and is mother to 3 amazing children and 2 dogs.
Andre Gonzalez
I went on my first mission trip when I was 18 to Costa Rica. I was very intimidated to speak in front of people. But when I got on the stage and opened my mouth, the Lord spoke through me at an elementary school and over 200 kids gave their heart to Christ. That evening we had a service and the Lord spoke to my heart and said this is what I want you to do for the rest of your life.
From that point on I went to Bible school and every summer I went on a summer mission trip. Then I became a leader and led students on 24 different mission trips and had the opportunity to lead them in worship.
I’ve been to 12 countries. I’ve been in full-time ministry for 36 years, currently taking churches on local mission trips in their cities.
I’ve been married for 19 years with two amazing boys, Josiah 15 and Jaxon 17.

Fundraising goal is $2,395 per person + travel from your hometown to Miami​​

​All participants must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be willing to share their testimony and the Gospel during the trip. RIM Project Directors will help you learn how to do this if it's new for you, but we expect 100% participation. While our ministry schedule includes both relational and service opportunities, this is an evangelism-focused trip. We'll all trust the Lord to give us boldness and Kingdom-building opportunities every day, even if we're out of our comfort zones.

In addition, all participants are expected to follow Real Impact Mission's code of conduct, statement of faith, financial policies, and health and safety procedures. All team members must be willing to submit to the leadership of their own group leaders as well as the leadership of RIM staff who will accompany you during your journey. Further details will be available in your Acceptance Packet.
Fundraising Goals
Each team member is responsible for raising $2,395 towards the trip cost. Donations to RIM are tax-deductible because RIM is a registered 501(c)3 organization. All funds raised toward the mission project are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Your trip includes roundtrip international airfare to Guatemala from Miami, ground transportation, in country-meals, lodging (beds and showers), evangelism and cultural training, and adventure day activities. Your trip does not include domestic travel from your hometown to Miami, meals in airports, baggage fees, extra snacks during the week, supplemental health insurance, or costs associated with trip interruptions (such as a delayed flights).
